Frequently asked questions regarding Urgent Care Services:

MD Today Urgent Care has curbside COVID-19 testing. We will schedule a telemedicine visit for you with our provider for an evaluation for COVID-19 testing. After your telemedicine visit, if our provider ordered testing*, we will schedule you to drive by our office so we can perform the testing curbside in your own car. If you need a report to return to work or school, this report will show your current COVID-19 status.

We have COVID-19 tests available. We are offering Quickvue Rapid Antigen COVID-19 testing that results in 20 minutes! Our QUEST Labs PCR Covid-19 tests take about 24 to 48 hours ^ to result and is covered by most insurances. Please contact our offices for more information. Our medical assistants are experienced and will provide a safe and quick testing experience. We do have low-cost self-pay rates for patients that do not have insurance coverage.

MD Today also has CLIA-Waived lab tests for: Flu, Strep, Mono, RSV, Glucose levels, Pregnancy, Hemoglobin, 10 & 12-Panel Drug Tests, Urinalysis, and more if our provider feels you need additional testing from your telemedicine visit. These tests are available for self-pay and insurance patients. Testing will be ordered by our physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant on duty in order to provide patients with the most accurate diagnosis.

MD Today Urgent Care now offers convenient, affordable, and confidential STD testing. Our back office medical assistants are experienced and will make you feel at ease. Your sample will be sent to an outside laboratory and you will receive results quickly. Your results will include detailed information on the correct medication for our providers to prescribe for you.

MD Today also has CLIA-Waived lab tests for: Flu, Strep, Mono, RSV, Glucose levels, Pregnancy, 10 & 12-Panel Drug Tests, Urinalysis, Hemoglobin and more. These tests are available for self-pay and insurance patients and are ordered by our experienced provider on duty in order to provide patients with the most accurate diagnosis.

If you have one of the insurance types above, then the cost for your visit will be dependent upon your insurance coverage. The three variables you should be familiar with are your deductible, co-payment, and co-insurance. Typically, the only cost you will have at the time of service will be your deductible or urgent care co-payment.

If you do not see your insurance company listed, or are an HMO patient, call the number on the back of your insurance card, or simply give our office a call and our friendly staff will be more than happy to help in any way we can. We are unable to see any SHARP or SCRIPPS HMO Patients.

If you do not have insurance, we are happy to see you at our discounted self-pay rates starting at $210 for a new patient office visit, $190 for a returning patient. Additional procedures such as labs or X-rays will incur an additional cost.

Whether its coughs or colds, ears to toes, our experienced providers are comfortable with treating almost any non-life-threatening illness for patients of all ages.

Common illnesses include upper respiratory & sinus infections, sore throats, urinary tract infections (UTIs), rashes, mild-to-moderate allergic reactions, and much more. Our providers typically specialize in family or emergency medicine and are selected based upon experience and exceptional bedside manner.

Non-life threatening emergencies such as sprains, strains, lacerations, fractures, puncture wounds, and foreign body removals are all treatable at MD Today Urgent Care. Our expert staff can treat these painful injuries effectively and keep you out of the emergency room.

We have the full complement of bandages, splints, and/or braces to ensure complete care of your injury. If a specialist referral is needed, we would refer you to one of our XiMED Affiliated Physicians who typically will be able to see the referral within 48 hours.

If your child needs a sport physical for football, cheer, or any other sport MD Today Urgent Care is your destination for fast, affordable, high quality sport physicals.

No appointment is ever necessary and walk-ins are always welcome. Insurance does not cover this physical and the cost is only $75* (Can vary depending on complexity/age).

MD Today Urgent Care in San Diego offers immunizations at special self-pay rates. We are unable to bill insurance but are able to offer you immunizations at low prices, like our TB test & read for just $70.

NEW!! We are now offering the QFT (QuantiFERON) Blood TB test. This test is a quick blood draw and the lab usually returns results within 48 hours. This QFT test is considered the gold standard of TB testing. Please call us for pricing.

Other common immunizations include T/Dap ($100), Tetanus ($70), and Flu shots ($40). No appointment is ever necessary for these types of injections, you can simply walk in, and we do our best to prioritize these visits because they qualify as “quick visits”.

We will continue to offer TB skin tests for school volunteers and many employers working in the public and healthcare sectors. Our TB Skin Tests are a great deal at just $75 for the TB Skin Test AND Reading. You must return to the clinic between 48-72 hours post injection for your reading and results.

A tuberculin skin test (also called a Mantoux tuberculin test) is done to see if you have ever been exposed to tuberculosis (TB). The test is done by putting a small amount of TB protein under the top layer of skin on your inner forearm.

If you have ever been exposed to the TB bacteria, your skin may react to the antigens by developing a firm red bump at the site within 2 days. If you test positive on the skin test, you will need a chest x-ray in order to confirm the test results. Source: WebMD

Our back office medical assistants are experienced, certified X-Ray technicians able to shoot nearly every body part except for the head and abdomen. Upon request, copies of the X-Rays may be burned onto a disc or emailed securely to a specialist, if needed.

These tests are available for self-pay and insurance patients and are ordered by our physician or physician assistant on duty in order to provide patients with the most accurate diagnosis.

Frequently Asked Questions regarding Employer Services:

COVID-19 Testing for your employees. We have two types of testing available. Rapid Antigen (20 mins) and PCR (24 to 48 hours). MD Today Urgent Care has curbside COVID-19 testing. We will provide a telemed visit for your employees for COVID-19 testing to be performed curbside in your employee’s own car. Our back office medical assistants are experienced and will provide safe and quick testing experience. These tests will be sent to an outside laboratory, and your employees will receive test results in 48 to 72 hours.

Employers may choose to pay for the COVID-19 testing for their employees. We can also set up a date to come visit your worksite and provide testing for your employees. Please call our office to set up these services.

Providing a flu shot clinic for your employees is a great way to reduce sick days and improve your workforce’s productivity.

New work-related injuries are always treated with a high level of care and attention for detail by our staff and providers.  Our staff will communicate with designated employer representatives (DERs) to collect all necessary information for timely and appropriate treatment. Our providers are trained to call DERs for every new work-related injury. We will always try and provide first aid when possible which helps to reduce recordable workers compensation claims.

MD Today Urgent Care works closely with employers to established customized pre-employment work orders.  These can work orders include: pre-employment physicals, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), rapid drug screens, lift tests, X-Rays, blood work, etc. The results of these tests and examinations allow employers to be confident about the quality of their new-hires.

Many industries, such as health care or education, require proof of immunization for diseases like Tuberculosis, TDap, Measles, Mumps, and Rubella.  MD Today Urgent Care is able to customize your work order with forms like a Hep B declination form, immunizations if titers show no immunity, or a TB test to accompany a pre-employment physical.
